We write about information that investors use to make decisions.

We translate big corporate jargon,

Our goal is to translate information that institutional and experienced investors use to make investment decisions into actionable insights that almost anyone (regardless of experience) can use to help make their own investing decisions. This newsletter seeks to bridge the gap between those few high school economics flashcards and concepts you remember and the “High Finance” lexicon used by people in suits that walk out of tall black buildings in midtown. None of it is as complex as the news or people on the train make it out to be — we’ll show you.

filter information for what’s important to your portfolio,

Our goal is also to only tell you what you need to know and when you’ll need to know it, but before you need to know it. We assume you have a life, and these concepts are only relevant when they might affect your portfolio that week. While knowledge of things like “Overnight rates”, CPI, and REITs can help us prepare for the next sell-off, you shouldn’t stress over the sea of financial and economic information that institutional investors swim in, day in and day out.

and teach you about it along the way.

Our style is incessantly didactic, as “High Finance” language can be very hard to translate without any active usage and reminders of those terms. We often use parentheses to give brief, ad-hoc definitions and explanations of terms that people might forget, but which other newsletters might assume you know/remember.
